mixthemes

[eskimolady]
I am a manger at a Taco Bell, and a few days ago one of my good friends and coworkers took his own life at 21 years old. It came out of nowhere, everyone loved him, and he seemed very happy.

I am torn up about it, and there are a lot of highschool kids that work with me that are also torn up about it.

I am looking for ideas for songs I might put on a mixtape for my crew.

Songs about dealing with suicide. Coping with pain. Enjoying the life they have.

I am an indierocker myself, so I like the songs, "Life is still sweet" by White Hassle and "Precious Time" by The Maccabees. But, my crew has very diverse tastes and I would like to be able to make them a mixed tape that everyone will enjoy most songs on there.

I don't even know if I am going to make the mixtapes for them, but music helps me cope with my pain, so I am going to look into it at least. And if I feel strongly about it then I will burn them for the kids.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

This may be a little too dark, but it helped me through similar issues:

I made a whole mix of saying goodbye and death related songs after a friend died a few years ago, but he died in a car accident which is sorta different than choosing to end your life. But maybe you'll find something in that list.

Otherwise, here are some songs that are about suicide but may or may not actually be comforting or relevant...
-Patty Griffin "Tony" (about a boy who kills himself because he is gay)
-Rasputina "A Quitter"
